Eligibility Criteria of Delhi HC SPA Translator

The eligibility criteria of Delhi High Court Senior Personal Assistant, Senior Judicial Translator and Judicial Translator are given below –

Age Limit

The age limit of candidates are given post wise below –

SPA – The candidate’s minimum age limit should be 18 years and maximum 32 years on 01/01/2019.

SJT – The candidate’s minimum age limit should be 18 years and maximum 27 years on 01/01/2019.

JT – The candidate’s minimum age limit should be 18 years and maximum 27 years on 01/01/2019.

Education Qualification of Delhi High Court SPA, SJT & JT

Senior Personal Assistant: The candidates should have a bachelor’s degree from a recognized University and having speed of not less than 110 w.p.m. in Shorthand (English) and 40 w.p.m. in Typewriting (English) on Computer with good working knowledge of Computer.

Senior Judicial Translator: B.A (Hons.) in English or Hindi or Urdu with Diploma/ Certificate course in translation (from Hindi/Urdu to English, and vice versa from University/Institute recognized by the Government OR 3 years’ experience in translation work from Hindi/Urdu to English and vice versa in Central/State Government offices/Parliament/State Legislature Secretariats or Central/State Public Sector Undertakings/Supreme Court of India/High Courts.

Judicial Translator: Graduate with English/Hindi/Urdu as one of the languages at the degree level and Diploma/Certificate Course in translation from Hindi/Urdu to English and vice versa from University/ Institute recognized by the Government OR 2 years’ experience in translation work from Hindi/Urdu to English and vice versa in Central/State Government offices/Parliament/State Legislative Secretariats or Central/State Public Sector Undertakings/Supreme Court of India/High Courts.

Note – There would be 25% negative marking (i.e. deduction of 0.25 mark for each wrong answer).

Main Examination (Descriptive Examination)

  • Main (Descriptive) Examination of English language would consist of Essay (250 words 50 Marks), Grammar (30 Marks) and Translation (25 words = 20 Marks).
  • Total time for descriptive paper will be 75 minute and total marks of descriptive paper will be 100 marks.
  • Minimum passing marks for General Category candidates will be 50% (i.e. 50 Marks out of 100 Marks) and for Reserved Category (including PwD) candidates will be 45% (i.e., 45 Marks out of 100 Marks).
  • Only the successful candidates of Main (Descriptive) Examination will be called for the next stage of Examination, i.e. Stage – II (English Shorthand Tests).

English Shorthand Tests

The English shorthand Paper will be 45 marks and the total time will be dictated in five (5) minutes’ duration for the passage of 550 words. Candidates will get forty (40) minutes’ duration to transcribe the dictated passage on computers. No extra time will be given for reading the passage.

Note – Total number of mistakes permissible would be 4% of the total words dictated, i.e., twenty two (22). Two (2) marks will be deducted for committing one full mistake each and one (1) mark will be deducted for committing every half (1/2) mistake. Candidates, committing twenty two (22) mistakes, will get 1 mark.

Interview of SPA

Minimum passing marks for General Category candidates will be 14 Marks and for Reserved Category (including PwD) candidates will be 12 Marks. Total marks for interview will be 35.
